Mila is a romantic story, a web art, and an unconventional otome game.

During the first half of the semester, by learning HTML/CSS/JS, I made two practices translating the relationship between the main characters from two songs from two musicals I really like based on the lyrics to the website.
This practice of translating the intimate relationship between characters from a musical to a web art piece makes me want to write my own romantic story. I decide to make a browser based otome game.
Also, for this visual novel, I aim to do a practice. In many games, male characters usually have a darker past. And they are usually “saved” by the female character(who are players), so I made this short game, in which I emphasize to describe the female character. I want to see how I feel when I finish this game.
This game comes from my older project(made in the class Experiential Comics Fall2020,) a shojo manga.
1.Ideation of the gameplay
I had a lot of thoughts initially but based on the requirement of this assignment(i.e., 10-15mins play), and as I decided to change the platform from Unity to front end, my ideas are narrowed down.
I think that there are two unique points associated with my game design.
The first is that players could enter the other character’s perspective once they get to the happy ending.
The second is the mouse interaction.
When players hover the mouse to keywords, the cursor will become “?” making players want to click the keywords, and it changes the visuals (background) based on the story. The background is usually associated with locations or hand interaction in this game. (The hand interaction is important for my scripts.)
